As part of our commitment to promote research in automatic Fake News detection, we were happy to support the HackIDC 2019 challenge with our API and with mentoring.

HackIDC is one of the largest tech Hackathons in Israel, held annually at IDC Herzliya. The 2019 edition has attracted more than 350 enthusiastic students, coding for 36 hours straight and competing for $10,000 of prizes. The students meet mentors from leading Israeli companies and at the end of the competition – the winners are selected by academic and industry experts.

AdVerif.ai provided the students with technology to automatically detect misinformation via API. The API methods allow to check the source behind a story, find if a story was already debunked by fact checking organizations, like snopes or factcheck.org, and more.

AdVerif.ai supported the challenge with API tools and mentoring

Through the challenge, AdVerif.ai mentors helped the students to set up access to the API and train machine learning classifiers based on Kaggle data sets for detecting fake news.

Many thanks to the Hackathon team for this great initiative, kudos to all the participating students and congrats to the winning teams!
